Finally a smile. :)

First and foremost, a warm thank you to each and every one of you that wrote me, either here or privately in e-mail, and let me know you were thinking about me. I can't tell you how much that touched me to know that so many people would take time out of their busy lives to say a few words on my behalf. If anything picked me up and gave me strength, it was knowing that my friends are here for me. Thank you. :)

What did I do this weekend?

I played World of Warcraft.

No, really. :)

For the first time in many, many weekends I had nothing planned, and wanted nothing more than to simply sit back and vegetate and whack some denizens of The Barrens and Ogrimmar. Well, that's exactly what I did, and it really recharged me. With nice, long blocks of sleep to break up the gaming, we played from Friday night until just a few hours ago. Thank you, dearest--you make me very happy when you accommodate me so. :)

I'm in absolute awe of WoW. It's a nearly-perfect game, meting out a steady diet of challenge, adventure, surprise, and reward. It seems like every time I get in I see something new; of course I'm still new to the game, but the frequency of "wow, look at that" moments hasn't diminished. I visited Ogrimmar for the first time this weekend with Zero, and it was all I could do to keep from pointing and jumping and giggling; it's just simply amazing. The sheer volume of people, the fact the city feels -teeming- with life, all the shops and byways and alleys and such...it's just awesome. I visited the Auction House and purchased a new claymore and suit of armor, and worked on my blacksmithing and mining skills out on the red wastes of Ogrimmar's front porch. I'm almost at the point (85 smithing, 100 mining) where I'm making stuff I can't really use yet...that's few and far-between, but it's there, and it feels good. The sense of character-building, of picking a path and choosing not just a sword or ax but a whole way to play sets WoW apart from any other gaming experience I've encountered, save the traditional pen-and-paper variety to which I'm so very well accustomed. I'm just about ready to start actually paying for my time in WoW, and I'm not even going to blink at that, because it's a game I'm going to be playing for a long, long time. To think that I've got a Tauren warrior up to almost 20th level, with supporting blacksmithing and mining, and that what I've seen is only a fraction of the total game... say what you will about pay-to-play, but for once, the game-gods have delivered unto us a keeper. :)

In other news...there is no other news. :) I didn't even take the time to go to the store this weekend, as I had everything I needed right here. I suppose I could say a few words about getting bigger, stomping this or crushing that, or perhaps even stretching out to luxuriate on my little planet, back bent with the curvature of the earth, but you guys probably wouldn't like to hear that sort of stuff, would you... :)

Okie, bed for me. G'night! :)

I'm feeling much better tonight.

I realize that I don't often get as upset as I did last night; certain circumstances aligned themselves and all bore on me at the same time, and it was too much to bear. I feel I have a much better perspective on things now; I'll certainly be thinking about them, but I'm not going to let them get to me as they did last night. Unexpected discoveries aren't something I deal with passively; when they're perceived as direct affronts to my character, I take them exceptionally seriously.

Zero always gives me a paw to squeeze and an ear to listen. Thank you, dearest, for hearing me out--I know that I'm much, much more than a handful from time to time, but you show me great patience and respect, and I love you very much for that and everything. :)

I'm going to go collapse, I think. I didn't sleep last night, so I'm completely out of energy. G'night.

Quiet weekend vixenwolf. :)

As the weekend slows down to sleep, I write a journal entry. :)

My wolf is sick, so he hasn't been feeling well at all. I'm sorry you're out-of-sorts, dear...I do hope you feel better very soon. :)

Just got done with a five-hour World of Warcraft stint. What a FANTASTIC game! I don't know if Everquest or any previous MMORPG had such a robust quest system, but it really ties the game together. My Tauren warrior just made thirteenth level; I'm very proud of her! She's doing really grand...she even got to lead a whole party tonight! That's right, for those that know the game, I had to do the Supervisor Fizsprocket mine expedition, which takes you into the Venture Co. mine, looking for, well, their supervisor. I went in, thinking I'd have to do it myself, but saw two other Tauren on the way up, so I waited for them. They were very nice, and when I asked if they'd like to join me, both agreed readily. Once inside, we met two MORE players, one Tauren and a Troll rogue, who also joined us. I got voted leader, so with my 'big boys' in tow, we finished the mission! Super cool. :)

As a bonus, on the way back to ThunderBluff, I took a fabulous picture of the sunset! :)

Vorld of Vixenwolf. :)

World of Warcraft has officially sucked me in. :)

I said good-night to my Zero at ten-thirty tonight, and made sure to give him an extra-special vixenwolf snuggle. Thank you, dearest, for spending the day with me--I always appreciate your company. :)

I thought I'd plug in and see about maybe getting a little more done on WoW; I got in about a quarter to eleven, and it's now...two in the morning. Sheesh. Where the hell did the time go? :)

Anyway, I'm not going to write a review right now, since I'm only eight levels in (well, fourteen, if you count both characters together). I've attached a screenshot of my Tauren warrior; she's a badass. :) Huge stone club, lots of good armor, and a no-nonsense, crush-the-little-people attitude. Did I mention she's cute, too? :P Here she is, about to bed down for the night, looking out at the beautiful mountains outside of Bloodhoof. I left her name off for now; I'll post more details as I become more comfortable with the game. :)

Is anyone else enjoying WoW? I have to wonder how many furs are out there, fighting the good fight. :) Let me know your experiences; I'd really like to know what you've found to work, not work, what to look for, and what to avoid. :)

Oh, my other character is a Night Elf Hunter. The Tauren is really a screw-around character; it's likely I'll start another, like a human paladin or something, just to see what else is available. My main character, the Night Elf Hunter, is the one I use with Zero, so I want to make sure she's tip-top (and top heavy! :P). Anyone else a little disappointed you can't tweak the body styles of the models? I expected Night Elf girls to be a bit more chesty; oh, well. :)

Okie, to bed with me. Byeeeeee! :)

That would be the Patriots. :) Good job, guys. :)

We didn't even have a "wardrobe malfunction." I'm sure everyone feels cheated; maybe I'll make up for that by just taking a deeeeep breath. Of course, I'm not nearly as shy about things ripping...and showing...as MTV. :P

Overall, a good, tight game, although Zero said, at one point, "I think the Eagles have stopped playing." He was right; they just stopped somewhere in the fourth quarter. Oh well; they put on a good show while they had steam. :)

Zero and I are playing World of Warcraft, and I LOVE it!!! :) More details later, but suffice to say my cute little Night Elf hunter is making great strides. :)

Movievixen...and more! :)

I realized tonight that I haven't seen a single movie up for an Oscar. :)

That's actually sort of weird; I'm usually a very movie-oriented vixenwolf, but for some reason, this year I just didn't get out to the theater as much. I know that part of my "laziness" is that I have a pretty awesome home theater set-up; it's not exactly watching a full-sized movie screen, but it's quite an experience, and I do have a...prodigious...DVD collection. I do like first-run movies, of course, but there's something very nice about snuggling back into my big couch and watching movies come to life in comfortable privacy. :)

Patriots or Eagles? I haven't decided yet. :)

Must do taxes soon. :)

Borrowed Fable from a friend at work; I started it the other day, and I must say I'm impressed. I'm not far enough to make any real judgments, but it looks neat. :)

No Call of Duty for me tonight; I had dinner with friends here in town, and just got home, so I'm headed for bed. Snuggle-time! :)

Updating vixenwolf. :)

For those that suggested Call of Duty, I have a warm and hearty thanks--what a GREAT game! It's fantastic, and one of the best, if not the best, WWII game I've ever played. I have a special love for Battlefield:1942, of course, and the Medal of Honor series are excellent too, but Call of Duty takes the cake. Outstanding graphics, terrific immersion, and a fantastic story--Call of Duty has it all. I know some people don't like the fact that you kind of 'jump around' a bit in the story; without giving too much away, you actually play three different soldiers on three different fronts. I won't say anything else about it until I have a chance to fully review the whole game (behind a cut of some sort for those of you that haven't played it through...). It's really awesome, though--if you like first-person shooters with plenty of action and immersion, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. :)

In other news, Zero and I are getting a lot closer to finishing Diablo II. It continues to entertain and grab my attention, and while I can't wait to see how it ends, I'll be sad to reach the ending. It's most special because I get to share the time with my wolf; it's always more exciting to play with a friend, exploring the ruins and dark corners with a trusted companion. :) It's just all-around cool. :)

In other other news, World of Warcraft is apparently not...available. Blizzard is adding more server capacity...sometime. I just hope Zero and I can secure a couple of copies before WoW 2 comes out. :P

More updates later. Oh...I spoke with a couple of you through e-mail; I owe you responses--I'll send those VERY soon! :)

First, a very warm and altogether bouncy vixenwolf snuggle and kiss for the wonderful birthday wishes yesterday! I did have a VERY good birthday. Thank you, one and all! :)

If I wasn't so tired, I'd play a bit more Call of Duty; I'm TOTALLY hooked. What a fantastic game. It's really a stellar game, and one I'm enjoying immensely (of course, I do EVERYTHING immensely :P ). For those that have played, I just landed in a glider. Maybe I should break out my cute little Britannia flag dress... :)

Okie, it's off to bed for me, but I'll be back tomorrow, and with more news!
Post-birthday vixenwolfiness. :)

Well, I'd planned on posting something yesterday, because I wanted to mention it was my RL birthday, but the Forces of Evil apparently decided that LiveJournal had been running too smoothly for its own good and thrust their collective Darkness into the very heart of our beloved blog. I respect the work that's needed to keep LiveJournal up and running, doubly so for recovering from something this far-reaching. Many kudos to the LJ team for a swift and accurate recall, and letting us know every step of the way what happened and how they were fixing it. You guys did great! *points* My hat's off to you! :)

Yesterday was my RL birthday; it went very well--I got to talk to both my mom and my dad, I spent the morning with friends in town out and about, and the afternoon and evening with Zero. Pretty quiet, for the most part, but that's what I needed. Thank you, Zero, for the note in your journal, and thank you to everyone else for wishing me a happy birthday! :)

Other stuff; I'm finally, finally "getting around" to playing Call of Duty, and I LOVE it. I'm only a bit of the way in, still fighting through that first town in the dark, moving house to house and trying to avoid the MG42 fire, but so far it's awesome. I found the discs last night and installed it, and went to get the patch (is 1.5 the most recent one? I couldn't tell...) and gave it a whirl once I tucked my wolf in bed. :) It's really an excellent game so far; I'll make sure to post my comments about it as I work my way through.

I'm really excited about getting World of Warcraft; usually I'm on the cutting edge of acquiring games, but MMORPG's aren't my forte, so I'm approaching with a little caution. Every review I read says that it rocks, though, so very shortly, the denizens of WoW will have a new Night Elf to deal with (like I'm gonna play an ork... :P). Seriously, I'll have to get the game soon and play around with it before deciding, but I do love the Night Elves; I just hope they're as cool in WoW as they are in Warcraft III. :)

Okie, I'm going to go see if my wolf is around, so I'll be back later! :)

I don't really have anything new to report today, but doing at least a little journal writing every day is one of my resolutions, so here I am. :)

Looking very forward to this weekend. I'm going shooting, which is something I haven't done in a while. Taking one of my cameras so maybe I'll post pictures if anything strikes my fancy. Other than that, I'm planning on getting a bit further in Diablo; Zero and I are on Act V, and while I don't want to rush to the end, I do want to keep things moving. I have a few ideas for several other, more private pursuits; I'm sure I'll be able to enjoy at least one or two of those. :)

I have a couple of muck-related things I want to think about before I fall asleep, and want to make sure I have a clear head to address them, so I'll retire for now.

Just spending a very lazy afternoon with my Zero, watching Minnesota absolutely annihilate Green Bay. Now, I'm not a football-oriented sportsvixen, but I do enjoy watching games with friends, so the banter back and forth makes it worth it. We just saw some amazing plays...I actually had to ask if Green Bay has been doing okie this year, because they sure look like they're teh sukc right now. Sorry, Packers fans. :)

Maybe the Packers need some REAL green and yellow help. :)

What's everyone playing game-wise right now? I'm looking for something interesting and single-player to fill the gaps between Diablo and sleeping. :) Seriously, though, I'm looking around for a decent game--I'm big on FPS's of course, but would love to try Metal Gear: Snake Eater or the "new" (from a few months ago) Splinter Cell--I love both previous games. I have my PC, of course, and an XBox, but would buy a GameCube or PS2 if a really good game came along. Suggestions? :)

Okie, I've got some dinner to make, so I'm going to go do exactly that. :)

Umm...wow, ANOTHER interception thrown to Minnesota. Green Bay needs some SERIOUS help. I hope they make a jersey in my size...or at least big enough to cover at least part of my chest. :P

Wow, and touchdown, in the time it took me to write this. Hold on, Green Bay...I'll be right there! :)

Wake up wake up wake up! :)

The very first I've heard of this. Those that know me know that Ridley Scott is my favorite director; his films touch me and lift my spirit. Kingdom of Heaven looks absolutely spectacular; Scott's attention to detail and startling storytelling will surely make it shine. :)

The weekend is almost here, and none too soon. One more day, and it's lazy vixenwolf time. *strrreetches* :)

Okie, this started out kind of silly, but really got me giggling by the end. Give them all a try...I'm sure you'll find a favorite. :) *drops a narwhal on Zero* :)

Zero just pointed out to me that Microsoft will start providing its own anti-virus and anti-spam software. Does that strike anyone as just a LITTLE ironic? :)

This elephant rocks. :)

Oh, game...this is a fun one. It's one of those "easy to learn, impossible to master" types of things. Well...I DID beat it on the second try, but it was a tough battle. :)

BTW, I took that geek quiz that's going around, and got, like, 95% or something. Do I get to wear one of those cute, little ThinkGeek tanktops with the "digital angel" wings? :)

The Extended Version of the Return of the King is sitting here, staring at me. I'd love to start it, but if I put it in, it'll be four hours plus before I get to bed, which simply won't work. I'll save it to this weekend, when I have a bit more time. I'm actually thinking about doing a three-day, three-movie marathon, watching the extended version of each part of the trilogy one after the other. We'll see what sort of free time I have this weekend. Of course, that's assuming I'm able to chip myself out of the ice block; getting to work tomorrow is going to be...interesting. :)

I ran across a really interesting thread on the SteamPowered forums today that discussed Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry, and several other recently- (and not so recently-) released first-person shooters. It brought up a number of questions that prompted me to find my Far Cry discs; I'm going to have to re-load the game, get the most recent patches, and bounce around to see for myself what's being mentioned. The general concensus is that the perfect game would include Half-Life 2's great story, Far Cry's unbelievable AI and wide-reaching, open-ended gameplay, and Doom 3's atmosphere and technical excellence. Here's hoping that S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Operation Flashpoint 2 and Unreal 3 keep their ears perked. :)

Started inking another drawing; I'm working it slowly, so as not to make any mistakes. It's really a lot of fun to watch a great pencil drawing start to transform when sharp, black ink follows each curve. I'll post it here and on my web page when it's done. :)

I'm very happy for my Zero; he bought a new computer! I know the one it replaced decided to swallow its own tongue. Zero honey, I hope you enjoy your new purchase, dearest! :)

...that I'm glad I can be an arctic vixen, because otherwise, I'd be freezing my ass off. :)

My town is getting hit with at least an inch of freezing rain tonight. I might end up being told to stay home from work in the morning because the roads suck so bad. Personally, I view such things as a challenge and don't mind driving in horrible conditions, but if work wants me to stay home, that's what I'll end up doing. The VPN is my friend, and powerful ally. :)

Picked up the super-biggie Return of the King Expanded Edition Collector's Set today. What a fantastic model of Minas Tirith! I know that it's just a little keepsake of the movie, but it looks pretty cool sitting on my desk. I'll watch the movie soon; the box says it's 250 minutes. Incredible. :) One of these days, I'll be a total geekvixen and watch all three movies, one after another. That should only take about thirteen hours. :)

Have I mentioned that I love my Zero very, very much? :)

Diablo falls! :)

Zero and I beat Diablo tonight. :)

The demon, not the game--we'll finish Diablo II in good time, but tonight we beat the beast himself. We did a pretty good job, too--between my constant barrage of arrows and Zero's ceaseless claw attacks (and crossbow bolts), we managed to reduce Diablo to a corpse in relatively short order. He was tough, but not so difficult that I felt the encounter was entirely one-sided. We won, and reaped the reward, and now we're apparently facing Baal in the Expansion. I do hope they have some arrows for sale in the market there, because my quiver is almost empty. :)

The first four acts have been quite entertaining; it's more or less a dungeon crawl, but has enough roleplaying elements that I feel like my Amazon has my own personal touch. Great game, Blizzard. Thank you for sharing your time with me Zero--I had a great time, and look very forward to the next installment. :)

Bedtime for me, I think. I've got some serious things to think about, and don't think I'll be falling asleep right away, so the sooner I try to get a grip on things, the better.

Almost back to work vixenwolf. :)

Isn't it always more difficult to return to work after enjoying a three-day weekend? I know it is for me; even though I took it easy and didn't really do that much, it's still difficult to face that alarm going off at six in the morning. I admit it--I can't stand waking up early in the morning. I'm very much a night owl, so getting up early is a foreign (and evil) concept. :)

I'm giving some thought to this year's resolutions. One can always chose to make a change, or a difference, but the beginning of the year is a convenient, and traditional, time for self-reflection. One thing I most definitely want to do is contribute more to my journal; I did a pretty good job last year of posting as much as I could, and while I might not have something interesting every day to post, I should continue to update this journal because it serves as an excellent metric of my past thoughts, moods, and projects. Will I be able to post something every day? Probably not. I think the more important concept is pursuing new things every day; if I make an attempt to learn something new, I'll want to record it. Sounds like a simple concept; we'll see how it works in real life. :)

My New Year's Resolution? 1920 x 1200. Widescreen vixenwolf. :)

Well, it's late, and I have a full week of work to face, so I'm going to call it a night. :)

Welcome to 2005!!! :)

It's a whole new year, and a bright one at that! :)

I always enjoy this time of year, because we can embrace that which we have enjoyed, and look forward to with great anticipation those things we wish to bring to life. I do try to think about what I've accomplished in the last year, and what I can do to improve my life in every way I can, on every level I can.

Linkies! I've got the television on in the background, and just saw a commercial for something that really caught my eye...Dragons! Yes, Animal Planet and Discovery look like they're batting another home-run with another special. Check it out here. :)

Speaking of dragons, I'm not sure I've ever posted this one; it's another of Limey's wonderful drawrings, a playful, sexy portrait of me as a big, busty, burly dragoness! I love this one--it captures my playfulness and attitude just right. :)

The first is the original image limeykat sent to me; it's her beautiful pencil work, and deserves to be shown first and foremost. I love every part about it, from the spires on my head o my signature double-spaded tailtip. Limey, you do absolutely amazing work! :)

This second picture is my attempt at practicing digital inking in Illustrator and coloring in Photoshop. It's the same picture, obviously, so ALL copyrights stay firmly in place where they're conspicuous (although I took a little artistic license to change Limey's signature to a more visible orange...hope you don't mind, Limey... :) ). For those that are curious, I'm using a Wacom Intuos 6x8 tablet and Illustrator/Photoshop CS. I've found that a 2-point brush works very well, and allows me to get some variation of line weight without things getting too difficult to handle. You might also notice that there's more picture; I took a little more license and extended the original drawing so my horns were totally "in-frame" as well as reshaping my pendant a bit; the real one is heart-shaped, and I wanted Limey's gorgeous work to reflect that. The coloration is simple block-style; I haven't gone back and shaded anything yet, mostly because I wanted to make sure that it was okie for me to make such additions. Limey's original piece is stunning; putting the careful effort into making sure this turned out as close to perfect as I could muster is my way of showing her how much I appreciate her amazing talent. Again, Limey, thank you!!! :)

I think that's all for now; I'm looking forward to a fun evening with my Zero--maybe I can convince him to see if we can put down Diablo, once and for all. :P

Welcome to 2005!!! :)

Is it really almost 2005? :)

I've been quite lax about posting lately, so I wanted to make sure I had something to say in the last entry of 2004. :)

Had a wonderful night with my friend mataki in the GC last night; it's always a pleasure to see you, hon--hope you're doing well, and enjoying a safe (and huge!) New Year's Eve. :) I don't get to the Club as much as I used to; maybe I should spend a little more time in the backlot where there's more room to be...biggest. :)

I'm looking forward to a long, cuddly night with my wolf tonight; I'm looking forward to ushering in the new year. :)

Let's see...what else is going on. I've finally started the first Harry Potter book. Yes, I know, I'm one of like three people that hasn't read those, but I finally got behind it and found my copies (I have them all; I just haven't read them all!). So far, it's absolutely outstanding--I'm not far enough in to really get a grip on what's happening yet, but from what I can tell, the book (and series) has a LOT to offer. My time is spent very wisely, yes. :)

zero_wolfe and I are almost done with Diablo II, which I've enjoyed immensely (well, I do EVERYTHING immensely... :P ). It's a really fabulous game; we're poised to slay Diablo himself. My pumped-up Amazon is all set with her altogether VERY well-endowed bow, and Zero's wolfy druid's claws will soon feel demon-flesh. :) I'm also contemplating getting into World of Warcraft; I'm a little wary of it at the moment, because the last MMORPG I tried to get into sputtered and failed miserably, but I'm hoping that WoW holds something more. The reviews that I've been reading all say that it's quite the game, so I'll probably have to at least give it a try. Gotta use my Christmas money for something! :)

Anime! I've been watching a LOT of anime lately, and have discovered some real gems. moonstalker suggested Tenchi Muyo to me a while back, and I've finally watched my way through the entire OVA. GREAT stuff!!! I'm halfway through the whole Hellsing box set; I've always loved vampire-hunter stories, so it's right up my alley! (Limey, Alucard is too cool!!! :) ) I also happened to get my paws on a copy of Ghost in the Shell 2; what an amazing anime! I missed it in the theater, but finally (finally!) got to see it at home. I can't suggest it highly enough, although I am biased--Major Kusanagi is my favorite anime character, after all! :)

Finally, I want to wish each and every one of you a warm, happy, safe New Year's. Just remember to be safe, and don't indulge yourself beyond your means. Biggest vixenwolf snugglies and kissies! :)

Happy New Year, everyone! :)
